KPFA SUMMER ARTS FAIR PRESENTS TWO EXCITING ART EXHIBITS

These 3 painters are part of a generation of artists from around the globe, whose works comment on world affairs,
cultural oppression & other political issues.

A portion of the artists’ earnings will be donated to Nepal earthquake relief.

Exhibition of reprinted artwork from the original linoleum block prints of Emmy Lou Packard (1914–1998).  Packard was a close friend and colleague of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera and a well-known artist in her own right.  She painted murals in San Francisco and Berkeley, was Diego Rivera’s chief assistant on the Pan American Unity mural for the Golden Gate International Exposition, helped Frida with her artwork, and lived with the couple for a time in Mexico.  In addition, Emmy Lou Packard was an active member of the community mural movement in San Francisco’s Mission District.  She also worked as an illustrator at Richmond’s Kaiser Shipyard, by the site of what is now the Craneway Pavilion, home of the KPFA Summer Crafts Fair.
